Five suspects have been arrested in connection with a series of catalytic converter thefts in Burbank. In the past few months, over 60 catalytic converters reportedly have been stolen from vehicles in the Media City. Burbank Police investigators used leads from those thefts to “initiate surveillance of several possible suspects,” according to a news release from Sergeant, Claudio Losacco, Burbank Police public information officer.
Early yesterday, several suspects were arrested after allegedly being caught “in the act of removing catalytic converters from vehicles in the Van Nuys area.” Sgt. Losacco says “… suspects were found to be in possession of several catalytic converters, two-way radios, cordless reciprocating saws, gloves, knee pads, saw blades, and a floor jack.”
Arrested for conspiracy to commit theft 28 year-old Lorenzo Zaleta, 40 year-old Ana Lino, 32 year-old Jose Guzma, 26 year-old Walter Delgado, and 45 year-old Millie Luarca. Bond was set at $20,000 for each suspect. All are due to appear in court on Monday, July 6.
