Smoke from Calabasas fire hangs over Burbank. The fire broke out late yesterday afternoon. There are reports of a speeding truck slamming into pole, knocking down power lines, in the 2300 block of Mulholland Highway and that may have sparked the fire. By midnight more than 500 acres had been burned, several structures damaged, and 5,000 people had been evacuated from 3,000 homes. Not only could you see the smoky haze from the fire in the parking lot of the Empire Center, 1800 West Empire Avenue, but the ash from the brusher was spotted here in B-town and as far away as Arcadia.
