If you want to get a close up look at the 2015 award-winning Burbank Rose Parade float, you need do it pretty soon. “Jungle Rescue” picked up the Past President’s Award on New Year’s Day for most creative design and use of both floral and non-floral materials. Hundreds of volunteers spent a lot of hours working on the float.

Among them, 8 year-old Andrew Podbelski who was at the float viewing at Glenoaks Boulevard and Olive Avenue yesterday. Andrew says he helped create some of the rock formations on the float.

Andrew’s 27 year-old aunt, Joey Diel, says she helped work on the float, too. Both volunteers were on hand yesterday to answer questions about the float for the spectators.

Flowers on the float include mums, protea, orchids, heliconias, delphiniums, and of course, roses. They used an estimated four thousand roses on this float.

“Jungle Rescue” will be on display in the parking lot on Glenoaks Boulevard, across from the Burbank Central Library. The float will come alive with animation at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m., 5 p.m., and 7 p.m. The float will be there through Wednesday, January 7.
