You make soon be dropping into your favorite Starbucks for more than a cup of Joe. After promoting itself as a great place to buy coffee, the chain is now working on being your favorite happy hours place as well. As part of a new Starbucks Evenings program, some of its outlets are offering wine and beer along with a speciality dishes like bacon-wrapped dates with balsamic glaze and Parmesan crusted chicken skewers. Oh, of course, you’ll have to be at least 21 to order the booze.
Starbucks considers itself to be more of a chain of cafes than coffee shops, according to Businessweek, therefore, the expansion makes sense. Starbucks is rolling out the program over the “next few years,” and is testing it in several places including the Southland. The booze menu is available after 4 p.m. at four Starbucks in Rancho Santa Margarita, Calabasas, Huntington Beach and at LAX. The plan reportedly is to add more Starbucks to the program this fall.
