UPDATED: 5:00 p.m. President Barack Obama is headed to the Southland today and his visit with undoubtedly cause some traffic issues. The president has a very busy schedule, which includes at least one major fundraiser and appearances on a talk show.
Burbank Police sent out a news release warning of the closure today of Hollywood Way (in both directions) between Empire Avenue to Glenoaks Boulevard, starting at around 4 p.m. through 5:30 p.m. The closure will affect the following side streets as well:
Thornton Avenue
Burton Avenue
Tulare Avenue
San Fernando Boulevard
Cohasset Street
The Los Angeles Police Department has a traffic advisory for several streets during the Obamas’ visit, which is expected to wrap up tomorrow morning.
Today, President Obama is scheduled to make an appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Earlier reports said First Lady Michelle Obama was coming with the president and would be in Burbank for a taping of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.” However, the First Lady did not arrive with the president at LAX. Mrs. Obama is set to appear on “Ellen” next Monday to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the First Lady’s “Let’s Move” program and kicked off her fitness challenge “Give Me Five.”
