A serial burglary suspect who allegedly struck several times in Magnolia Park and Burbank Village sections of the Media City is behind bars tonight. Burbank Police announced late today the arrest of 28 year-old Hakob Torosyan of Glendale. Torosyan is being held without bail and is due to appear in a Burbank court Tuesday, March 15, on 14 counts of commercial burglary, according to a Burbank Police news release.
Burbank and Glendale Police started working together on the investigation when they realized a thief with a “similar modus operandi” was committing crimes in both cities. Burbank Police Sergeant, Claudio Losacco, says the burglar focused mostly on “… restaurants, hair salons and other small businesses.”
Media City Groove reported on some of these break-ins and burglaries last month and in a post yesterday. The suspect is being charged with several break-ins in Burbank including The Crystal Shrine, 1006-1008 North Lima Street, the Oasis Nail and Spa, 3317 West Magnolia Boulevard, and Boba Loca at 148 North San Fernando Boulevard.
The investigation is ongoing. Sgt. Losacco says detectives “…are working to link Torosyan to as many as 11 additional burglaries in both Glendale and Burbank.” Torosyan reportedly is on felony probation for evading a police officer and has prior convictions for theft and burglary.
