Some of the top celebrity chefs are gracing a limited edition of the Forever Stamp. The U.S. Postal Service put the new stamps into circulation last Friday. The legendary chefs honored: Julia Child, James Beard, Joyce Chen, Edna Lewis and Edward (Felipe) Rojas-Lombardi. These food connoisseurs showed us how to integrate ” international ingredients and recipes with American cooking techniques and influence” to spark up our meals and tantalize our palate.
“These chefs invited us to feast on regional and international flavors and were early — and ardent — champions of trends that many foodies now take for granted,” said U.S. Postal Service executive, Pritha Mehra, prior to a dedication ceremony for the stamps on Friday in Chicago, according to a news release
The Forever Stamp has no set denomination, but is always accepted for first class letter postage — even if rates go up.
USPS director of stamps Susan McGowan told Nation’s Restaurant News that the chef series came from one of the “thousands of stamp suggestions that Americans mail to her every year.” McGowan says a Citizens’ Stamp Advisory Committee meets quarterly and each year selects “18 to 20 series” to launch.
