Burbank Police arrested a man today for allegedly attempting to snatch the purse of a young woman. It happened this morning around 11:30 a.m. in the 300 block of Olive Avenue in downtown Burbank. BPD spokesman, Sergeant Claudio Losacco, says: “The woman reported that she was walking when the man, who is identified as 24 year-old Manuel Martinez of Los Angeles, approached her and tried to take her purse. The woman told officers she held onto her purse and punched the man two times, knocking him to the ground.”
The unidentified victim, who was unharmed, detained Martinez until police arrived. Martinez reportedly “suffered a bruise to his chin,” and most likely a bruised ego as well for being decked by a female. The suspect was arrested for suspicion of attempted robbery and booked into the Burbank City Jail. Martinez is being held on $50,000 bail and is due to appear in the Burbank branch of Los Angeles Superior Court next Tuesday.
