Mega Millions jackpot stands at $122 million for tonight’s draw. Sure the odds of winning are long, but folks do get wealthy scoring a lesser prize. Last Tuesday, 27 year-old Carlos Cardenas of Whittier bought $5 in Mega Millions lottery tickets. Today, he’s nearly a million dollars richer — after picking all the winning numbers except the Mega Ball in the February 4 game.
Disney is being sued over the shady “Lotso” bear character in “Toy Story 3.” A New Jersey company, which produces the “Lots of Hugs” stuffed bears, is claiming copy right infringement among other misdeeds. The Hollywood Reporter has details.
The family says it was an “apparent drug overdose,” however, authorities say they cannot confirm that. Actress Julia Roberts’ half-sister, Nancy Motes, was found dead in the bathtub of a West Los Angeles home last Sunday. Los Angeles police say there was no foul play. More here.
A 24-year-old Burbank man is being held on $1 million bail today in connection with a string of robberies and attempted robberies of local businesses in the Media City. Joshua Boston was arrested on Monday. Boston is suspected of hitting a gas station and a frozen yogurt shop more than once, according to the Burbank Leader.
Bob Costas will not be hosting NBC’s Olympic coverage tonight. It was announced today “Today Show” host, Matt Lauer, will be taking over the job. Costas has an eye infection, which has spread to both his eyes. More here.
