Entertainer Gladys Knight has one of the most distinctive voices in the music industry today. Knight is lending her voice and acting talent to the new Tyler Perry flick, “I Can Do Bad All by Myself.” According to The Hollywood Reporter website, Knight will play a neighborhood matriarch who also sings at a local church where Perry’s Madea character attends.
Knight is a seven-time Grammy winner, but she will not be the only singer in the cast with a slew of Grammys. R&B singer Mary J. Blige and gospel artist Marvin Winans are Grammy winners and members of the movie cast as well.
Also, Academy Award nominee Taraji P. Henson has a role in the film. Henson received a best supporting actress nomination for her portrayal as Queenie in “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” (2008). “CSI: Miami” star Adam Rodriguez has joined the cast, too.
“I Can Do Bad All by Myself” is in production at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, Ga. In a quick turnaround, the film is scheduled to hit movie theaters in September.
