Several hundred firefighters are battling the Colby fire in Glendora for a second day. Three Burbank Fire engines and 12 personnel reportedly are involved in that fire fight. The flames broke out in the hills there yesterday and were fueled by those strong Santa Ana winds. Fire crews were on the line overnight putting out hot spots.
Officials this morning reported 1,700 acres scorched, five homes destroyed along with 17 structures. The fire in the Glendora hills is now 30 percent contained — that is expected to improve as the day wears on. The fire was reportedly sparked by an illegal campfire. Three suspects have been arrested.
Meanwhile, Burbank Fire is looking to beef up its ranks with some new recruits. The application and testing period is open now through Friday, February 28, 2014 . Details on the Burbank Fire Department website.
