One of those popular free landscape workshops is set for this Saturday at the Community Services Building in Burbank. If you were thinking about signing up — it’s too late. This workshop is closed. Erika Sandoval of Burbank Water and Power says the July 12 workshop really filled up “quickly.” Due to the great demand, they’re putting together two for next month.
The three-hour session is taught by horticulturist Tim Wheeler. This is a “how to ” workshop covering basic landscape design, turf removal, fundamentals of irrigation systems, and the use of California friendly plants. Also, the attendees are encouraged to participated in BWP’s “Go Native” rebate program. Sandoval, who is the manager of the program, says it offers “$3 per square foot of grass removed” for residents. Also, businesses get a rebate of “$2 per square foot of turf converted” to drought tolerant landscape, according to the BWP website.
So if you want to pick-up some free water saving landscaping tips, sign up for the next workshop. The phone number for more information and to RSVP is (818) 238-3730.
