Bear alert in Burbank hillside area. It went out today after a black bear was spotted on the 18-hole Debell Golf Course, 1500 East Walnut Avenue. The wild animal was seen near hole 11 around noon, according to a Burbank Police news release. The bear wandered around for a while, before disappearing back up in the hills.
Warning signs about the bear have been posted in the area. Obviously, a bear encounter should be avoided. However, if it happens the California Department of Fish and Wildlife has some advice for dealing with that type of situation. The tips include never approach a bear or pick up a bear cub. Also, if a bear attacks someone, call 911 immediately.
