Another winner for the City of Burbank. Thousands of spectators and millions of television viewers watched the 136th Pasadena Rose Parade on New Year’s Day. Among the floats, Burbank’s “Having A-Lava Fun!” It won the award for most outstanding use of animation. On the float, a bunch of cute young pre-historic animals are having a rousing good time. The theme of the 2025 Rose Parade is “Best Day Ever.”
The City of Burbank has presented a float at the legendary parade since 1914. In the past two decades, only three years did the Media City not receive an award for its float entry. The Burbank Tournament of Roses Association is the all-volunteer organization that builds the float. As in previous years, the group is holding a contest to select the design for the 2026 Rose Parade. Details are on its website.
Meanwhile, if you want to get an up-close look at the winning float, it will be on display at the corner of Glenoaks Blvd. and Olive Ave., across from the Central Library in Burbank, this weekend.
