Big doings in Downtown Burbank today. Kicking things off, the 51st annual Burbank Community YMCA Pancake Breakfast. This is chance to enjoy a great breakfast of flapjacks, sausage, fruit, juice, and coffee, while helping a good cause. The event is a fundraiser for youth programs at the Burbank “Y”. Also for the third straight year, the Burbank YMCA Service Club will donate a new van to help transport children.
“Our goal is to replace the Burbank YMCA’s three 15-passenger vans with four 12-passenger vans,” said JC Holt, Burbank Community YMCA president & CEO, in a news release. “Thanks to the ongoing generosity of the Y Service Club, we are just one vehicle away from completing our new fleet. ”
The pancake breakfast fundraiser runs 7:30-11:30 a.m. today in the Ray Sence Room of the Burbank “Y” 321 E. Magnolia Boulevard. Tickets are $5 each. Kids under 5 eat for free.

Also in the Media City — the annual Police and Fire Service Day . The celebration will be at Burbank’s Fire and Police Headquarters, at the corner of Third Street and Orange Grove Avenue in Downtown Burbank from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. The public will get the opportunity to see demonstrations, along with displays and take some special behind-the-scenes tours of the city’s fire and police operations. The Police-Fire Museum will be open for visitors, too.
Meanwhile, the regular Saturday Farmers Market, behind the nearby Community Services Building, will be bustling with activity from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
