The Burbank City Hall swearing-in of Steve Frintner and Charlene Tabet for the School Board on May 1, 2017.
The firestorm surrounding embattled Burbank School Board member Charlene Tabet shows no signs of cooling off. Since last June, a petition calling for Tabet’s resignation has gained more than 795 signatures. Tabet is a key figure in two investigations, one conducted by the Burbank Police Department and the other funded by the district, both of which focus on an alleged contract scheme.
The school board censured Tabet for voting on a contract by Specialized Support Services in which she has a conflict of interest. Later, the board removed Tabet from her position as clerk for being a no-show at meetings. Tabet has not attended a school board meeting since May 15, 2025.
Now, the school board is reportedly set to discuss replacing Tabet at the Thursday, September 4 board meeting.
