As the vice-presidential candidates, Democrat, Tim Kaine, and Republican, Mike Pence, prepare for their first and only debate tonight, there is still plenty of fallout from the debate between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton last month. The presidential debate or rumble at Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York back on September 26, was a much-anticipated face off between two candidates carrying their own bag of negatives and positives. When it was over, many — not including Trump, felt Clinton managed to downplay her negatives and come out the winner of the debate. The Washington Post fact-checked the candidates here.
Trump was very much Trump. Frequently, interrupting Clinton and the moderator, Lester Holt. Now a little over a week later, a major poll is giving Clinton a major bump from that first showdown. The CNN/ORC Poll shows Clinton now leads Trump by five points among likely voters, 47 percent to 42 percent.
Meanwhile, final preps are underway at Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia for the V-P debate between Kaine and Pence. Debate begins at 6 p.m. Pacific Time. The moderator will be Elaine Quijano of CBS News.
