Do you have an original fresh chicken recipe that gets wows and cheers from family and friends? If you prepare your dish with locally grown ingredients then you might have a recipe which could win the $10,000 grand prize in the 3rd Annual Foster Farms Fresh Chicken Cooking Contest. Included in the first place prize, a one-year supply of Foster Farms chicken.
Home, amateur, and professional chefs from California, Oregon and Washington are encouraged to submit their original fresh chicken recipes by the deadline, June 3, 2012. Last year’s winner was a home chef and the 2010 winner was a cooking school student whose win helped kick start her culinary career, according to a PR Newswire release.
“We are inspired by the entries we’ve received so far which reflect the abundance of fresh, local ingredients available to us on the West Coast,” said Ira Brill, director of marketing services for Foster Farms, in the news release. “We encourage cooks of all abilities to join the competition and share their own masterpieces of culinary originality.”
Rebecca Spence of Vancouver, Washington won the 2011 grand prize with her crispy orange chicken recipe. For more on the contest and a look at the semifinalist recipes, click here.
