A strong showing by all four of the Burbank City Council candidates at a forum held last Wednesday, March 25, at the Buena Vista Library in Burbank. Juan Guillen, Will Rogers, Emily Gabel-Luddy, and Chris Rizzotti are campaigning hard in a runoff for two seats on the Burbank City Council.
The forum was sponsored by the Burbank Chamber of Commerce.
The moderator, Gary Olson, is president of the organization. Olson asked a good series of questions about issues and controversies from the Bob Hope Airport opportunity site to the Talaria project to mansionization to city budget to traffic to finding a spot for a soccer field. In general, the candidates spent most of their allotted time delivering spirited arguments about their positions and less time talking about their resumes and endorsements. No knockouts and no major stumbles. The candidates came away smiling and so did most of their supporters. Undecided voters left with plenty to chew on.
Only a few empty seats in the audience. A good showing for a forum that was not heavily advertised.
When it was over — the candidates gathered to take group photos.
Voters will determine who gets to occupy those two open seats on the city council in the Burbank General Municipal Election. This is a mail in ballot election. The ballots must be returned in the mail or to a designated drop-off center by 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 14, 2015.
