Brrr! It’s seriously cold in Burbank. You need to pull the heavy stuff out of your closet and wear some of it! A short while ago, I was out walking in the 50 degree temps. Not bad in the sunshine — definitely cold in the shady areas. The high today in the Media City, may only reach into the low 60s. Now tonight, the forecast is for a low in the 30s. And the cold conditions will linger for a while.
Meanwhile, the Los Angeles County Health Department has issued a Cold Weather Alert for the San Fernando Valley, Pomona, Antelope Valley, Mount Wilson, and Santa Clarita Valley areas, because the National Weather Service’s forecast is predicting extremely low temperatures in parts of the Southland over the next few days.
Wind chill temperatures are expected to dip below 32 degrees Fahrenheit in the San Fernando Valley tomorrow through Saturday, December 7.
“We also want to remind people not to use stoves, barbeques or ovens to heat their homes due to the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning,” said Jonathan E. Fielding, M.D., M.P.H., Director of Public Health and Health Officer in a new release. “There are places where people can go to stay warm, such as shelters or other public facilities. Children, the elderly, and people with disabilities or special medical needs are especially vulnerable during such cold snaps; care should be taken to ensure they don’t get too cold when they are outside.”
