Another big change is coming to late night TV. After nearly 10 years, Craig Ferguson is stepping down as host of “The Late Late Show.” Ferguson announced today he will bid farewell to that hosting gig in December, according to The Hollywood Reporter. For some time, rumors have been swirling around about CBS plans to make changes on the late night talker.
So now the chatter begins again over who would be the right choice to join the late night hosting ranks. A lot of changes in those ranks lately. Since the beginning of the year, Jimmy Fallon has taken over the “Tonight Show” after the departure of Jay Leno. Earlier this month, David Letterman announced he would be retiring next year. Stephen Colbert was named as Letterman’s successor. Meanwhile, Ferguson is insisting this is not a break-up drama.
“CBS and I are not getting divorced, we are ‘consciously uncoupling,’ but we will still spend holidays together and share custody of the fake horse and robot skeleton, both of whom we love very much,” Ferguson is quoted as saying in the article.
Oh, Ferguson is not going to be unemployed. He’s signed on to host a new syndicated show called “Celebrity Name Game.”
