The Disney-ABC Television Group is reorganizing and laying off 175 workers. The cutbacks reportedly will start today, mostly at the unit’s eight owned and operated stations in New York, Southern California, Chicago, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Houston, Raleigh Durham and Fresno. The SoCal station is located nearby in Glendale.
The firings will reduce the 7,600 staff by 2 per cent. The reason: new technologies forcing the hiring of workers with skills for the digital age. More here on where the axe will fall.
