Walt Disney Studios has launched a special exhibit to promote director Tim Burton’s upcoming stop-motion animated feature film, “Frankenweenie.” The Art of “Frankenweenie” Exhibition is set to premiere in Barcelona, Spain, at CineEurope, June 18-21, and in the U.S. at Comic-Con 2012 in San Diego, California, July 11-15, according to a PRNewswire release. During the tour, the exhibition will be making stops in seven countries.
This rare visual experience will give audiences “… an exclusive glimpse into the stop-motion animation process brought to life by visionary filmmaker Tim Burton. From original sketches drawn by Burton, to extensive props, sets and puppets, the exhibition showcases the artistic detail and vision..” that has gone into creating “Frankenweenie.” The movie centers on the world of a bright young boy who uses science to bring his beloved dog Sparky back from the dead and has to deal with the consequences of his action.
“Frankenweenie” is based on an idea from Tim Burton, who’s also the director and producer on the film. Burton is the creative mind behind such wondrous films as “Beetlejuice” (1988), “The Nightmare Before Christmas” (1993) , “Alice in Wonderland” (2010).
“Frankenweenie” opens in the U.S.A. October 2012.
