A huge turnout in the Los Feliz area today for the funeral of Joseph Gatto, the father of Assemblyman Mike Gatto. More than a thousand mourners attended services at Our Mother of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 2060 North Vermont Avenue, according to KNX 1070 Newsradio. Joining the family, relatives, and friends, members of the State Assembly as well as local politicians and dignitaries.
Joseph Gatto, a well-liked retired teacher and artist, was found shot to death in his Silver Lake home on November 13. A team of Los Angeles Police detectives reportedly investigating the murder — so far no arrest has been made.
“Our hearts are broken.” Assemblyman Gatto reportedly told the audience in the church, according to the Los Angeles Time website. Following the funeral mass for the 78 year-old Gatto, a private graveside burial and reception.
Assemblymman, Gatto, a Democrat, represents Burbank and several other local communities.
