An ambitious plan to greatly increase the Nickelodeon Animation Studio campus on West Olive Avenue, between Victory Boulevard and Lake Street in Burbank, is set to go before the Burbank Planning Board tonight.
The project would more than double the office space of the cable and television network from 72, 232 square feet to 185, 992 square feet, according the Burbank Community Development Department.
The proposal involves the construction of a new multi-story office building of 113, 760 square feet and a 137, 229 square foot parking structure at 203 West Olive Avenue, adjacent to the network’s campus. Nickelodeon would consolidate employees from buildings at other locations, boosting the campus staff from 300 to 740 employees.
“The expanded campus will provide space for all animation needs (production, voice recording, etc) and will provide offices for administrative personnel related to both animation and non-animation activities,” as stated in a Burbank city staff report.
The planning board meeting is set for 6 p.m. March 24 in the Burbank City Council Chambers at city hall 275 East Olive Avenue in Burbank.
