Former Burbank Mayor Nick Schultz has moved on. Schultz officially stepped down from his position as mayor/council member on Monday, November 25. In the November 5 general election, Schultz won the race to represent the 44th District in the State Assembly. Schultz beat Republican opponent Tony Rodriguez by a landslide.
The Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk Office certified the election on Tuesday, December 3. A total of 3,793,106 ballots were processed and counted, with 66.12% of eligible voters casting ballots in Los Angeles County.
In the final vote count, Schultz received 143,625 votes, or about 66%. Rodriguez, a recruitment construction manage, of Tujunga received 74,316 votes or 34%. As for the open two open seats on the city council, Konstantine Anthony won re-election with 18, 694 votes or 23.44% and Real estate broker, former Burbank Planning Commissioner Chris Rizzotti came in second with 15, 973 votes or 20.3% of ballots cast. Since Schultz’s departure, Vice Mayor Nikki Perez has handled the mayor’s duties. If tradition holds, Perez will be selected by her fellow council members to serve for one year as mayor during the city council reorganization meeting on Monday, December 16.
