Nickelodeon Animation Studio in Burbank has cleared a major hurdle in its quest to expand. Last night the Burbank Planning Board unanimously approved a plan, with a 4-to-0 vote, to construct a five-story office building and parking lot at 203 West Olive Avenue, right next to the Nickelodeon campus.
The expansion plan includes a 113, 760 square-foot office building and a 137, 229 square-foot parking structure. The development would more than double the amount of office space on the Nick lot at 231-239 West Olive Avenue. The staff is expected to jump from 300 to 740.
Before breaking ground, several other steps need be completed like acquiring building permits. Construction is expected to get underway by early 2015, according to Burbank senior planner, Brian Foote.
