The Presidential General Election of 2008 is over, but the interest in President-Elect Barack Obama remains high in the book market. Obama’s extraordinary talents and skills include that of published author. Several books written by the Illinois senator are in the top 10 of the best seller lists on both Amazon and Barnes & Noble websites.
This morning when I checked, “The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream” is holding down the number one spot at Amazon. “Dreams from My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance” is number two.
Over at Barnes & Noble, four different Obama books are in the top ten. “The Audacity of Hope ” is number one here as well, followed by “Dreams from My Father” number two, “Change We Can Believe In: Barack Obama’s Plan to Renew America’s Promise,” at number three and “Barack Obama in his Own Words,” edited by Lisa Rogak, in fifth place.
Experts say some folks get the blues after the hoopla of the election is over. This election was probably the most exciting in recent memory. Political books were hot properties throughout the campaign and some, like the Obama books, remain big sellers.
Meanwhile, a lot of us would like to see President-Elect Obama give the struggling economy the same kind of boost he’s produced in the book market.
