Actor Samuel Jackson has signed a major multi-picture deal with Marvel films, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Jackson and Marvel reportedly have been haggling for weeks, but now it’s a done deal for the actor to play Nick Fury, a spy in the comic book agency S.H.I.E.L.D.
The deal calls for Jackson to appear as Fury in an unprecedented nine Marvel films including “Iron Man 2,” “Thor,” “Captain America,” and “The Avengers.” Jackson is going to be one busy actor.
Over at the Marvel.com website they’re reporting “Iron Man 2” will be directed by Jon Favreau and filming is expected to begin this April. The cast includes Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, and Don Cheadle. Marvel is also saying Kenneth Branagh has signed on to direct “Thor,” which is scheduled to hit theaters in July of 2010.
