The Spring Egg-Stravaganza “a fun Burbank event.” That is how Judie Wilke, Park, Recreation and Community Services director, summed up the festivities in McCambridge Park yesterday. As for the new rules, Wilke says they “controlled things” better and that “no one was turned away.” She says a complete analysis would have to be done later to determine if the event ran better with or without the rules.
This year, parents were required to register their children for the Easter egg hunts — the reason most come to the event. The pre-registered kids were allowed onto a ball field for the hunt first, followed later by those who had not registered. There were four egg hunts. City staff and volunteers, including nearly 20 from the Disney Studios, distributed 640 plastic eggs filled with candy and prizes on the green grass before each hunt. They were scooped up by the kids in less than 30 seconds during the egg hunts.
Other entertainment included bounce houses and game booths. Also, the Easter Bunny was there to take photos with the kids.
