Two suspects are due to appear in court today in connection with a violent home invasion robbery and attack on an elderly Burbank resident. Twenty-seven year-old Lonnie Garcia was arrested in Pasadena last Wednesday, July 15, “for the home invasion robbery and attempt murder” of 89 year-old Gerri Dickinson, according to a Burbank news release. Sergeant Claudio Losacco says Garcia “was recently released from prison.” He’s being held without bail.
Dickinson, a slight but feisty senior, suffered broken bones and bruises during the altercation with the robber around 8:30 p.m. on Friday, July 10. Dickinson told reporters the suspect forced his way into her Cornell Drive home and attacked her — but she fought back. Eventually, the suspect fled the scene reportedly with some of the victim’s jewelry.
CBS2’s Laurie Perez is reporting Garcia was seen leaving the victim’s home on a neighbor’s surveillance tape. Also on that tape, authorities spotted the getaway vehicle and traced that to 39 year-old Eddie Baca of Highland, who was taken into custody after a short pursuit in Pasadena. Baca was booked for felony evading and drug sales. He’s being held on $75,000 bail.
