Two major movie stars are being remembered today, after both passed away over the weekend. Oscar-winning actress, Joan Fontaine, reportedly died “peacefully” in her sleep at her Carmel, California home yesterday at the age of 96. Fontaine was the younger sister of actress Olivia de Haviland.
Fontaine appeared in more than 30 films, many of them classics, like “Rebecca” (1940) and “Suspicion” (1941), which won her the best actress Academy Award. More here about Fontaine’s career and rivalry with her sister.
Actor Peter O’Toole died last Saturday at the age of 81. Nominated for eight Academy Awards — but never won one. Not even for the classic film that made him a star, “Lawrence of Arabia” (1962). O’Toole reportedly passed away in a London hospital following a long-term illness. More on his life and career here.
