Awards
The Hollywood awards season officially got off to a shining start with the 31st Annual Critics Choice Awards last night in Santa Monica. The horror/supernatural film with heart and soul, Sinners, received 17 nominations, the most of any film. When the ceremony was all over, the vampire flick was honored with four awards: Best Original Screenplay (Ryan Coogler), Best Young Actor or Actress (Miles Caton), Score (Ludwig Göransson), and the inaugural Casting and Ensemble prize ( Francine Maisler).
Netflix’s Frankenstein film also won four awards: Best Supporting Actor (Jacob Elordi), along with Costume Design (Kate Hawley), Hair & Makeup, and Production Design (Mike Hill, Jordan Samuel, Cliona Furey). The movie’s fourth win was for Best Production Design (Vamara Deverell, Shane Vieau).
One Battle After Another won the Best Feature award. The thriller’s director, Paul Thomas Anderson, picked up both Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay. Timothée Chalamet won Best Actor for Marty Supreme, Jessie Buckley won Best Actress for Hamnet, and the Best Supporting Actress trophy went to Amy Madigan of Warner Bros’ Weapons.
