The list of potential bidders for the Los Angeles Clippers is growing. Does Oprah want to buy the Clippers? Music and media mogul, David Geffen, claims Oprah is part of his bidding team, which includes Oracle co-founder and CEO, Larry Ellison. Yesterday a spokesperson for Winfrey, Nicole Nichols, confirmed that on ESPN.
“Oprah Winfrey is in discussions with David Geffen and Larry Ellison to make a bid for the Los Angeles Clippers should the team become available,” Nichols said in the statement.
Apparently Magic Johnson is trying to cool speculation he’s trying to buy the Clippers. However, behind the scenes Johnson and his group reportedly are considering just such a deal. Other possible bidders, boxing superstar Floyd Mayweather Jr.,music mogul Sean Combs, and real-estate tycoon Rick Caruso, the developer behind the super successful Americana at Brand in Glendale. Each of these potential buyers has bucket loads of money, but it’s going to take more than that to snag the Clippers. More on that here.
