            What’s Behind Skyrocketing Egg Prices?

Egg prices are skyrocketing everywhere. In Burbank, the average price is between $5 and $6 for a dozen of white eggs. This week, I got lucky and bought a carton of 12 white eggs at the Trader Joe’s on East Alameda Avenue for $2.99! A bargain.

The prices of most grocery items are ticking up and that has been the case for a while. However, the price of eggs reportedly rose 60 percent last year! Most experts blame an outbreak of bird flu and supply chain issues. A farm advocacy group claims the culprit could be price fixing among the major egg producers. Details at CNBC

            Burbank City Treasurer Sworn In

It’s a done deal. Burbank City Treasurer Krystle Palmer took the oath of office at the January 10, 2023 city council meeting. Palmer was unavailable to take the oath at the city council reorganization meeting last December. Palmer ran unopposed in the November 8, 2022 election.

In her comments, Palmer pledged to fight for “every dollar for Burbank.” Also, she vowed to help build an even better Burbank by promoting “savings and financial literacy within our city.” YouTube

            In-N-Out Burger is Expanding

California-based In-N-Out Burger is moving into Tennessee. The family run business opened its first restaurant in Baldwin Park back in 1948. Over the years, it has grown into one of the most popular burger joints in the West. There are nearly 400 locations in the Golden State, Arizona, Oregon, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, and Texas. Now plans are underway to open a new territory office along with In-N-Out eateries in the deep South. Is this part an effort to expand across the country and eventually into the East Coast market?
