SAG-AFTRA members are enjoying the benefits of a new three-year contract this holiday season. The union ended a brutal 118-day strike against the studios after reaching a tentative deal last month. However, the membership needed to give its approval. That became a done deal earlier this month.

On December 5, the union announced its members nationwide approved new, three-year agreements covering television, theatrical, and streaming production by a vote of 78.33% to 21.67%. The voter turnout was 38.15%. The tentative deal on November 6 came after a crippling walkout and extensive complex negotiations.
Thousands of SAG members and their supporters spent a long, hot summer pounding the pavement and carrying picket signs. The strike began on July 14th.

The pact with the AMPTP, Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, is valued at over $1 billion and includes pay increases, a “streaming participation bonus,” and regulations on AI. More details on the contracts are on the SAG-AFTRA website.
