A California ticketholder is rolling in the dough this weekend after winning Friday’s Mega Millions jackpot. Lottery officials say the jackpot is worth an estimated $1.269 billion, or $571.9 million, as a one-time cash payout. The lucky ticket was bought in Cottonwood, a small town about 600 miles north of San Francisco. (Circle K) Sunshine Food and Gas at 3505 Rhonda Road in Cottonwood sold the winning ticket.
Two other California players have major prizes to celebrate as well. They got all five white balls, but not the gold Mega Ball, for a prize of $787,543 each. One ticket was bought here in the Southland at the Cardenas Market, 2045 East Highland Ave. in San Bernardino. The other is up north near Sacramento inside a Chevron Station at 1400 Blue Oaks Blvd. in Roseville.
The winning numbers are 3, 7, 37, 49, 55, and the Mega 6.
Friday’s jackpot is the fifth-biggest in Mega Millions history. Also, it is the largest Mega Millions prize ever won in the Golden State.
The jackpot drops to at least $20 million for Tuesday’s Mega Millions draw on New Year’s Eve, December 31.
