Southland/Weather—

Remnants of Stormy Rachel pounded SoCal this weekend with powerful waves, strong winds, rain, and flooding. And it is not over yet. It is cool, cloudy, and windy in Burbank, with still a chance of showers this afternoon and lingering into at least Monday.
Other areas of the Southland, especially coastal cities like Newport Beach and Long Beach, suffered heavy damage and may face even more, along with flooding.
Large swells slam into Long Beach, California as multiple homes hold on for dear life to not fall.

The highest tides from former Hurricane Rachel are hitting Long Beach this morning. Over the last few days, strong swells broke through the Peninsula’s boardwalk and its protective bulkhead. Read more about why this is happening and what comes next: https://t.co/zYaDSJvNSX https://t.co/87CiaMIkkq

What amazes me about coastal real estate is flooding will happen or hurricanes take out houses
And then years later people will continue to buy them and pay a lot of money for them
Or keep rebuilding in extreme fire zones in areas that keep burning and when you look up how many fires and mudslides there have been in the past 50 years you wonder why people thinking they can win against fire.
And then people will be upset they are uninsured or underinsured

We need to protect coastal communities from the risks already here AND keep working to limit how much worse those risks become. Both matter.
Thinking of those affected and the first responders working to keep everyone safe. https://t.co/xVQC8rRMXR
