Actor Jim Carrey is now a self-published author. He hasn’t given up acting, but he is passionate about his new children’s book, “How Roland Rolls,” released last week. It’s aimed at kids 4-to-8 and it teaches some life lessons in the story of Roland a wave who is afraid he will be no more once he hits the beach.
Carrey has played some very creative characters on the big screen, from Riddler in “Batman Forever” (1995) to the Grinch in Dr. Seuss’ “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” (2000) to Colonel Stars and Stripes in the recent “Kick-Ass 2” (2013). Now, Carrey has turned his special kind of talent and energy to creating a story book character he hopes will appeal to both adults and kids.
This is what Carrey says in a letter to grown ups on the “How Roland Rolls” website. ” I wrote “How Roland Rolls” specifically as a way for parents and grandparents to engage in quality together-time. The message of the story will help them feel connected, worthwhile, and part of something vast and grand. Personally, I believe that time spent telling them a bedtime story is as close to heaven as we will get.
