Burbank plumbing company charged with illegal dumping by the Los Angeles City Attorney Mike Feuer. Multiple criminal charges have been filed against “the owner of Mighty Mike Plumbing in Burbank and two employees for allegedly illegally dumping materials in Sun Valley,” according to a statement posted on the L.A. City Attorney’s website.
The Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office says on … “November 24, 2015, surveillance cameras located at 9128 Tujunga Avenue in Sun Valley captured defendants( Antonio) Vasquez and (Jesus) Maldonado allegedly using shovels to dump large amounts of dirt and asphalt out of a truck with a Mighty Mike Plumbing logo on the side. Both defendants were also allegedly wearing clothing with the company name on it. A subsequent investigation by LAPD allegedly was able to identify the defendants through video stills matching with prior booking photos.”
The location reportedly has had a problem with illegal dumping for decades. Therefore, it has earned a spot on the L.A. City Attorney’s Office list of the 10 worst chronic illegal dumping sites in Los Angeles. “Illegal dumping corrodes a community and must be stopped,” said L.A. City Attorney Feuer in the statement. “This case is an example of our Illegal Dumping Task Force bringing our Neighborhood Prosecutors together with city agencies to effectively target locations that have become dumping grounds.”
The owner of Mighty Mike Plumbing, 36 year-old Mike Varela, Vasquez, 27, and Maldonado, 29, were each charged with two counts of illegal dumping. They’re due to be arraigned Thursday, June 30, in a San Fernando court. If convicted, each could face a maximum of six months in jail and $1,000 in fines.
