Spring-like weather arrived in Burbank this weekend just in time for Daylight Saving Time. You should spring forward Sunday, March 9 at 2 a.m. or just turn your clocks an hour ahead before going to bed tonight.
You lose an hour sleep, but gain an extra hour of daylight in the evening — more time for outdoor activities during the spring and summer months. Federal law does not required all states and territories to adhere to DST, but only a few pass up the opportunity.
The states of Arizona (with the exception of the Navajo Indian Reservation) and Hawaii stay on standard time. So does the U.S. territories of Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, Guam,Northern Marianas Islands and American Samoa. The U.S. is joined by more than 70 countries around the world in observing DST.
On Sunday November 2, 2014, DST will end and we will fall back to standard time in the U.S. That’s many months away. Right now, in Burbank and the rest of the Southland the weather is fabulous and we welcome another hour of sunshine. The high in B-town today — lower 80s — tomorrow — more of the same.
