An autopsy is scheduled in the Bahamas today for the 16-year-old son of actors John Travolta and Kelly Preston. A New Year’s celebration at Travolta’s vacation home turned tragic last Friday, when Jett Travolta was discovered unconscious in a bathroom. There are reports the teenager may have suffered a seizure and hit his head in a fall. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

On his website, Travolta posted a thank you for the “love and condolences” sent to his family during this painful time. Travolta says of his beloved son: “We are heartbroken that our time with him was so brief. We will cherish the time we had with him for the rest of our lives.”

Travolta became a star back in the 1970s with his role as Vinnie Barbarino on the TV series,”Welcome Back, Kotter” and as the dancing Tony Mancero in the 1977 film, “Saturday Night Fever.” Travolta’s red hot career cooled off in the early 1990s, then heated up again when he appeared in the cult film, “Pulp Fiction,”(1994).

Kelly Preston has acted in numerous TV programs like “Medium” in 2008 and movies including,”From Dusk Till Dawn” (1996), “Jerry Maguire” (1996), and “For Love of the Game” (1999).

Travolta is reportedly making arrangements for his son’s funeral in Florida where the family has another home.
