William Shakespeare wrote, “parting is such sweet sorrow.” That is definitely the case with LeBron James’ decision not to finish out his career with the Los Angeles Lakers. LeBron gave the purple and gold eight incredible years. About a month ago, James, through his agent, disclosed he would not be a Laker next season, but hadn’t decided where in the NBA he would play. Today, King James announced he will be suiting up for the Philadelphia 76ers.
James will play on the hardwood with Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and Jaylen Brown in a quest for the Sixers’ first world championship in more than 40 years.
James explained his decision in a series of social media posts.
I thought I was done when the season ended. I wasn’t ready to announce it, and I knew I needed some time to really decide, but I was pretty sure I played my last game. I was honest at that last press conference when I said I needed to look at myself and deicide (decided) I still love

James will reportedly sign an $8 million two-year deal with the 76ers. The basketball star earned nearly $53 million playing for the Lakers last year.
