No one won last night’s Mega Millions jackpot, but one Southland ticketholder is probably feeling pretty lucky today. That person is holding a ticket with five of the winning numbers from Friday’s draw, missing only the Mega number. The ticket is worth $5.1 million, according to the California Lottery.
Also, the hot ticket got a money boost from one of the game’s new rules. Each Mega Millions ticket includes an automatic multiplier, i.e., 2X, 3X, 4X, 5X, or 10X. Therefore, this ticket’s winnings jumped from the base amount of $2,552,480 to $5,104,960 because the multiplier 2 was on it—a solid investment on a Meg Millions ticket that cost $5.
That multi-million-dollar ticket was sold at CVS Pharmacy, 3049 East Coast Highway, in Corona Del Mar, down in Orange County. Here are all of the winning digits from the December 5 draw: 34, 38, 42, 44, 69, and the Mega 8. The jackpot rises to at least $60 million for the next draw on Tuesday, December 9.
