The small publisher of the only biography out of GOP vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin has been overwhelmed by the demand for the book. “Sarah: How A Hockey Mom Turned Alaska’s Political Establishment Upside Down” was first released in April with a slightly different title.

It didn’t start flying off bookstore shelves until GOP presidential candidate John McCain announced he had picked Palin as his running mate on August 29.

In the days that followed, Epicenter Press valiantly tried to keep pace with the demand. Epicenter has shipped around 60,000 copies of the Sarah book since McCain’s surprise announcement rocketed Palin into the national spotlight. Despite its best efforts, the Washington state-based publisher was drowning in new orders for the bio by Kaylene Johnson.

A number of distributors offered deals. Recently, Epicenter signed an exclusive distribution deal with Tyndale House, according to Publishers Weekly. The Christian publisher reportedly has printed 250,000 paperback versions of the Sarah book — with shipments scheduled to begin going out today. Oh, and get this — there is yet another change in the title. This paperback version is titled, “Sarah: How a Hockey Mom Turned the Political  Establishment Upside Down.”

In an article on the publisher’s website, the president of Tyndale House, Mark Taylor, says that by distributing the Sarah bio  “….we hope to stimulate both thought and discussion about the role of faith in politics.”

Epicenter will continue to handle special orders of the hardcover edition of the bio.

Get ready for a new Sarah Palin bio set for release next month

Another Christian Publisher, Zondervan, will be coming out with its own Sarah bio in a few short weeks. “Sarah Palin A New Kind of Leader” is set for nationwide release on October 10.

According to a news release on the publisher’s website this bio …”will explore themes from her career in politics, her life as a hockey mom, and her strongly held Christian faith…”

The book is written by Joe Hilley.  Zondervan is a major Christian publisher. It is part of the HarperCollins company.
