Burbank Police have issue an alert following two “separate mountain lion sightings” in residential areas this week. The wild cat was seen in neighborhoods near the edge of the Verdugo mountains. Burbank Police Sergeant, John Dilbert, is blaming the drought for the problem. Sgt. Dilbert told the  Burbank Leader “… animals that are normally up in the hills come down for water and food. ”

The big cat reportedly was spotted wandering  near Scott Road and Lamer Street around 9 p.m. Wednesday and about 7:30 a.m. yesterday morning. Dilbert says a BPD employee saw it.

The BPD has posted a community bulletin on its website about the sightings. The bulletin includes safety tips like keep pets inside when mountain lions are “most active,” which is at dawn, dust, and  during the night. Also, to avoid attracting wild animals don’t leave pet food outside.
