A spectacular event in Pasadena today as the 125th Tournament of Roses Parade thrilled millions on T.V. and on city streets. At least a million fans reportedly lined the parade route to see energetic marching bands, gleaming vintage vehicles, high-stepping equestrian units and of course, beautifully decorated floats. The theme this year, “Dreams Come True.”
For the second straight year, the Burbank Rose float won the Fantasy trophy for “Lights… Camera… Action!” It was one of only six floats built by volunteers. The Burbank Tournament of Roses Association is on a roll. Last year, the Burbank float “Deep Sea Adventures” won the Fantasy trophy, in 2012 “The Dream Machine ” won the Mayor’s trophy, 2011 “Centennial Celebration” took home the Founders’ trophy, and “Barnyard Aces” grabbed the Animation trophy in 2010.
