U.S. Representative Eric Swalwell (D-CA) picked up two significant endorsements recently in his bid to become California’s next governor. On February 12, the Swalwell for Governor website announced the endorsement of Assemblymember Nick Schultz (D-Burbank).
In a statement on the site, Schultz said: “Growing up, I watched my mother work tirelessly, sometimes juggling multiple jobs, to keep the lights on and put food on the table. Eric watched his mother do the same. So when Eric says he understands the challenges facing California’s working families, you can believe him — and you can trust he’ll spend every day fighting for us as our next governor.”
Schultz chairs the Assembly Committee on Public Safety. He represents Assembly District 44, which includes the cities of Burbank and Glendale, as well as the communities of La Crescenta, Sunland-Tujunga, North Hollywood, Sherman Oaks, Studio City, Toluca Lake, and Valley Village.
Schultz claims Burbank as his home base, where he has a residence and a district office. Also this month, Swalwell got the endorsement of his fellow Congressmember, U.S. Senator Adam Schiff. The California senator claims a home and a district office in the Media City as well.
“Congressman Swalwell and I worked together to investigate Trump during his first presidency, and Eric played a leadership role in the impeachment trial after the President incited a violent mob to attack the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021,” Schiff said in a statement. “What I saw then, and what I know now, is that Eric is fully prepared to get things done and deliver for the Golden State, even as he will fight to protect our values, rights, and freedoms.”
Swalwell represents the 14th Congressional District in the East Bay. Last November, Swalwell jumped into the crowded race for governor of the Golden State.
