Southland/Hot Temps—
The summer heat is on! The temperatures are expected to sizzle throughout the Southland today. Even the coastal region will be in the warm 70s, with the lows in the 60s. The Los Angeles area will hit the 80s, while temperatures will climb into the 90s for the valleys and the triple digits in the Inland Empire.
It will be over 100 in the deserts and around 110 in Palm Springs. The biggest temperature swing will be in the mountain communities, with mid-80s during the day and the 40s at night.
Meanwhile, the National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Southern California from 10 am today through Friday at 8 pm. The advisory warns that during that period, there is a high risk of heat illness among sensitive members of the population, including very young people, the elderly, those without air conditioning, and anyone engaged in outdoor activities.
Also, the heat is expected to peak on Wednesday and Thursday, with only a modest cool-down coming on Friday. The cooling trend is forecast to continue through the weekend.
