A stop at a neighborhood liquor store turned out to be life-changing for one Southland lottery player. Recently, Bernardo Escobedo dropped in at LB City Market, 1198 E 10th St, Long Beach, and bought a $1,000,000 Money Mania Scratchers ticket. The result made his day! “When I realized I had won, I was outside the store where I bought the ticket,” recounts Escobedo in a California Lottery news release. “Winning that kind of money from a $10 ticket is unbelievable. I went back inside and scanned it again because I still couldn’t believe it.”
Escobedo plays the lottery games regularly. In the past, he has won modest prizes ranging from $100-to-$500. This time, he hit the jackpot. The new lottery millionaire says he will wait for a sign on what to do with all that money from a higher power. “God will decide what comes next,” Escobedo said.
